Led by a Veterinarian
Our founder holds a veterinary degree and brings medical expertise to every rescue, health check and treatment decision we make.
Mona and Friends grew from a simple but urgent truth: too many animals are living on the streets without safety, food, or love. We are a volunteer driven, non profit organization founded by a licensed veterinarian who turned a lifelong passion for animal welfare into real, hands-on action for homeless dogs and cats every single day.
Our goal is to build a dedicated animal welfare facility, and with the generous support of donors and volunteers, we are getting closer. Once complete, the facility will have two wings. The left wing will be a free shelter for rescued stray animals, providing veterinary care, safe housing, socialization and adoption support. The right wing will operate as a boarding and pet care center for paying customers, making the shelter financially sustainable without ever compromising on the animals who need us most.
What sets Mona and Friends apart is simple: our founder is a qualified veterinarian. Every animal we rescue benefits from professional medical care from day one.
01
Our founder holds a veterinary degree and brings medical expertise to every rescue, health check and treatment decision we make.
02
Every member of our team gives their time freely. Our volunteers are the reason animals are fed, cared for and loved every single day.
03
We are committed to being open about how donations are used. Every contribution is spent directly on animal care and shelter development.
04
Vaccinations, parasite control, spay and neuter procedures, and emergency treatment are all part of the care every rescued animal receives.
05
We raise awareness, encourage responsible pet ownership and work with local communities across Macedonia to reduce the number of stray animals.
Support our cause and help us care for animals. Every contribution counts! Your donation funds veterinary treatment, daily food and care, and helps us move closer to building our permanent rescue facility.

Adopted Luna, Skopje
I adopted my dog Luna through Mona and Friends three years ago. The process was thoughtful, the team was warm and honest, and Luna has brought so much joy into my life. Knowing she came from a safe, caring rescue makes it even more special.

Stefan Nikolov
Volunteer, Bitola
I found an injured stray cat on the street and had no idea what to do. Mona and Friends responded quickly, took the cat in, treated her and eventually found her a home. The team is genuine, professional and truly passionate about what they do.

Maria Zdraveva
Donor and Supporter
We donated to the facility fund and have followed the journey ever since. It is so inspiring to see real progress being made for animals who have no voice. Mona and Friends is a cause I am proud to support and will continue to support.
To adopt a pet, get in touch with us through our contact page or give us a call. We will talk through which animals are currently available, tell you a little about their personalities, health history and needs, and guide you through our straightforward adoption process. We want every match to be a lasting one.
You can donate directly through our website using the donation form on the home page. Every contribution, no matter the size, goes directly toward food, veterinary care, shelter costs and the ongoing build of our dedicated facility in Macedonia. You can also donate supplies, share our page or help by spreading the word.
If you find an injured stray dog or cat, please contact us as soon as possible. Our team will advise you on the safest steps to take and, where we can, we will come to collect the animal, transport it to safety and provide the medical care it needs. Please do not leave an injured animal without first seeking help.
Yes. As an organization founded and led by a licensed veterinarian, medical care is at the heart of everything we do. Every animal we rescue receives a full health check, vaccinations, parasite treatment and any other veterinary care needed before being placed for adoption. All animals are spayed or neutered where appropriate.
Absolutely. Volunteers are the backbone of our work. Whether you can help with animal care, fundraising, events, transport or simply spending time socializing the animals at our shelter, we would love to have you.
